Merry Xmas and Have A Happy New Year and all that...

Here is our online review with the US online mag 'East Coast Romper'... Obviously we do have a drummer now so ignore that bit!!!

BY: MARIE RHODES

Nothing seems to phase this band at all (not even the freezing cold sat outside Manchester Academy for this interview!!). With all the recent line up changes and no permanent drummer in place yet "Gone Till Winter" are not gonna sit down and give up. Some unsigned bands in this early stage of their career will have packed up and gone home by now, but thankfully these guys have carried on and brought to us an outstanding demo EP titled 'Deconstruct the Season'. Hopefully it wont be to long before they can spread their wings through the rest of the UK and bring to the rest of the country their unique musical style. Please check out their myspace site for up coming tour dates for the rest of the year and if you are any good at playing drums please drop them an e-mail!!!!

Congratulations on a superb demo album. A friend of mine who hates Metal and hates Goth absolutely loves what you have done.

Talena: ohh thanks that's really nice, it is different as people like to say your either a Goth fan or your this fan or that, I think different people have picked out what they like in it rather than go I don't like because it is labelled in a certain way.

Jonathan: We get a lot people who don't even listen to metal say oh well we don't normally listen to this kinda stuff but we like you guys.

I have read a few reviews on your band and people have compared you to the likes of Lacuna Coil, do you take this as a huge compliment?

Talena: yeah we do because at the end of the day they are a really good band and have worked really hard, personally I am a fan of their music as well even though I don't think we sound like anyone in particular there's probably influences for each of those different bands so if people here that and like that then that's pretty good.

Jonathan: I mean really I feel that it is a bit of an easy reference as we have a female vocalist, I mean if you sang like Angela Gossow people would say ohh you sound like Arch Enemy but really we would sound like them if you know what I mean.

You used to be called "Throne" was there a reason for that change?

Talena: Yeah quite a long time ago, I started looking on the internet for our band you know just random search on goggle and I realised that there was a lot of bands in other countries called Throne so we thought well we don't want people to like our band then go and look for us and find loads of other bands of the same name, So we needed to come up with something else original that is just us so then people know it is us.

Jonathan: we got a lot of toilet references !!!

Talena: ha ha I wasn't gonna mention that

So who decided on Gone Till Winter?

Talena: we all got together and sat around and all kinda brainstormed loads of different ideas and then we pretty much went through and picked the best one and though yeah that's the best and went with Gone Till Winter. Yeah one person probably picked it but we did all agree on it.

I know you have had a recent band change with your drummer but as a whole how did you guys get together?

Talena: Well Jonathan and me met at uni, which was about 2001 that was when we met and then it was a progression from then. Nathan replied to an ad he saw in a music shop again Shirez same thing replied to an ad he saw, we have actually met because of the band if you understand what I mean.

So are you settling now following all the changes?

Talena: It is really good at the moment actually, I mean we was really sad to loose our last drummer and base player and it was a really difficult decision for them to make to leave. We was really worried about getting new people in it was a worry incase people didn't get on and there was an atmosphere but no it has been really good, the last couple of weeks have been really fun everyone seems to be settling in together and everyone is getting on.

Jonathan: at one point before we got our new base player and before john stood in to help us on drums it was a case of crisis talks in terms of we either change things drastically or split up and for us splitting up was not an option so that's why Nat and Joe decided to leave the band, it was all on good friendly terms no harsh feelings at all.

Do you have any plans for a full-length album?

Talena: Hopefully yeah, we have enough songs it is just really difficult at the moment with having new bands members in. We are planning to release maybe a second EP in Feb-March next year tour it and then take it from there.

Where does your tour take you at the moment?

Talena: Just North at the moment I think the plan is to keep pushing the release as it is now and then travel down south beginning of next year doing more of a full UK tour.

Jonathan: Yeah we have a big list of bands we want to play with, you know bands that are playing in the UK at the moment, and a bunch of cities and we'll give them to our manager and see what he can do with it.

Talena: Yeah we are planning to get around the rest of country next year sometime

What was your early influences?

Talena: I was brought up in the 80s Goth scene, then as a teenager got heavily into Grunge so I went through Goth/Grunge and then found bands like Marilyn Manson and went wow this is amazing and Nine Inch Nails and down that industrial route and then staring writing my own songs.

Jonathan: Iron Maiden, Metallica etc.. your usual kind of big names and then a few other bands thrown in for good measure I mean between us with members of the band now it is a vast range of influences but it pieces together really well.

What has been the high point of your career so far?

Jonathan: Our first Academy Gig here, it was really good we was playing on a stage where we had previously been in the crowd and watched so many gigs here, and to actually play on the stage was really good.

Talena: Yeah I loved that gig

What about lowest point would you say loosing some of the band members?

Talena: well I would say saddest point more than worst point. I mean every band has bad gigs as they go along, you can travel for miles to a gig and no one is there and it is really hard when you get into a situation like that and it really puts a downer on you but as far as the band goes I think with the recent changes it has been the saddest point.

Jonathan: Yeah it felt like a death in the family, as they have a big part of your life for 4 or 5 years and then they have to move on, you know we still see them but it feels like a part of the band as a whole had died at the time.

Talena: Yeah we still all hang out together its good

Whats in your record collection that you are embarrassed about?

Talena: im a fan of pop music which is really quite bad, you know every now and then ill have a moment of listening to Girls Aloud ha ha, I know its quite random but it makes me feel good.

Jonathan: I've got Avril Lavigne's last album

Talena: ha ha yeah bit of cheesy pop

Jonathan: yeah the kinda stuff you get really drunk to and you don't really care if its good or not

Talena: yeah Michael Jackson Dangerous album that's a good one.

When was the last time you got absolutely wasted?

Jonathan: ohh it was last week

Talena: ha ha you well you did I wasn't that bad, I just passed out because I was so tired

Jonathan: Last week was particularly interesting

Talena: yeah it was a lot of fun

Any interesting stories from that night?

Jonathan: The landlady at the pub we played at, I was talking to her and she said she could see my aura and it was like a strobe light. So I looked on a website about auras and looked up like a strobe light you know black to white, well white means imminent death so I apparently have a weird intergalactic thing going on.

Talena: ha ha how old are you ?

Jonathan: 27 now

Talena: ohh be careful

Jonathan: ha ha not gonna be a member of that 27 club yet

So any Famous last words/mottos?

Talena: I live my life by do unto to others as you see fit for yourself and just be happy try and do all you can and push for yourself that's what we are gonna do

Jonathan: yeah and If you are a good drummer and live in the UK please call us we need a drummer.
